Hulbert Weekend Host

In addition to the School Programs, Elderhostel, leadership development, and outstanding wilderness trips, the Hulbert Outdoor Center hosts groups on site for a variety of programs from family functions to business meetings, wilderness medicine course to conferences, club and community outings, and much more. The Hulbert Host acts as liaison and support for those programs. The Host coordinates between food service, the registrar, Aloha administration, program staff and the guests to ensure a high quality experience for all.

• Pay range is $8-10 part-time, 15-30hrs/week, plus room (kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, utilities, wireless internet, no phone) and limited board (meals during program.)
   
• Most Saturdays and Sundays, Some Fridays and Mondays but not typical

Summer Ropes Course Positions

Hulbert Outdoor Center, as a program and facility of The Aloha Foundation, Inc., has been providing exciting, safe, and effective adventure programming since 1978. Thousands of schoolchildren, adults, and campers have participated in beneficial experiences through programs offered at Hulbert.

The high ropes course is often a focal point and a highlight of a Hulbert experience. The perceived risk of a ropes course experience is often limit-pushing and fun-inspiring, and results in positive growth when facilitated appropriately. Throughout our summer season, Hulbert offers morning and afternoon courses, Monday through Saturday, to campers participating in any one the Foundation's five summer camping programs.

We seek to employ energetic, talented and dedicated individuals who have the desire to live, learn, and work in an intense and positive growth-filled environment with our summer campers. Summer Ropes Course Staff Qualifications:

Summer Ropes Course Staff are individuals who have a demonstrated ability to conduct themselves in a professionally competent manner. They must possess the ability to monitor safety, participant well-being, and group dynamics throughout the entirety of a ropes course program. Summer Ropes Course Staff should be:

• at least 18 years old;
• currently certified in First Aid/CPR;
• experienced working in a leadership role with youth, ranging from ages eight to 17; and
   
• experienced with high ropes courses and experiential outdoor learning.

Summer Ropes Course Staff Responsibilities:

• Facilitation of two ropes courses daily, including course set-up and take-down.
• Supervision of several climbers at one time.
• Supervision of Summer Camp Staff assisting on ropes courses.
• Processing experiences on ropes course.
• Inspection and maintenance of ropes course.

Summer Ropes Course Staff Compensation:

• Salary: range beginning at $150 per six-day week, plus room and board.
• Most evenings and Sundays off.
• Course built to ACCT standards.

School Programs (Fall, Winter, Spring)

Hulbert Outdoor Center's School Program employs talented educators to work with children in a residential experiential education setting. The prime responsibility of an instructor is to work with participants in residential programs emphasizing teambuilding, ropes course, natural history, and other curriculum areas.  Previous experience with teambuilding and ropes course facilitation, natural history education, or other professional education experience is preferred.  Starting salary is $250 per week, plus room and board.
