2010 Lakeside Wilderness Expedition Course

Lakeside trip Cancelled for 2010.

The Experience of a Lifetime!
Sunday, June 27 – Friday, July 16

Reconnect with your finest self and
take ownership over the Experience!

This wilderness adventure gives you the opportunity to take the skills you learned at Lanakila to a whole new level.  Each day will bring new opportunities to develop your leadership style.  You will alternate being “leader of the day” and being a supportive team member.  As your abilities in the wilderness coalesce, your challenges will increase.  You will find yourself drawing on the character, teamwork, and inner strength you learned during all those years at Lanakila.  And, most of all, you will have fun.
This leadership development course explores the remote backcountry of northern New England through the media of backpacking, sea kayaking, and rock climbing.  Instructors are experienced in backcountry guiding and wilderness first aid.  You will sleep in tents, cook your own meals, work hard, and have fun.

Highlights include:

  • Explore the islands and unique features of the Maine coast and Acadia National Park while kayaking between 5 and 18 miles per day.  Harbor and grey seals, dolphins, puffins, and bald eagles are some of the wildlife we may see.
  • The Appalachian Trail is 2,175 miles and we will hike the “toughest mile.”  The Mahoosuc Notch is a deep gap in the Mahoosuc Range that is filled with boulders that must be climbed over and sometimes  under, creating a unique hiking experience.
  • Rise to new heights in the White Mountains while climbing some of the classic granite routes of the Northeast.

”What I love about the Lakeside Adventure Expedition is that it builds on what campers learned at Lanakila, but it really pushes the whole process further.  More challenges, longer adventures, and a fuller commitment to focusing on leadership.  And, you’re doing it with people you already know, like and trust, so there is a big willingness to take risks and try new things.” - Barnes Boffey
